GROVELAND — Chief Robert Valentine is pleased to announce that the Groveland Fire Department completed a successful live fire training in collaboration with the Massachusetts Fire Academy.
The Groveland Fire Department hosted a live fire training on Nov. 18 and 19, in collaboration with the MFA, which provided a live fire trailer for participants to practice realistic fire scenarios.
Approximately 45 firefighters across Essex County, including from Groveland, Georgetown, Boxford, Amesbury, Newbury/Byfield, West Newbury, Newburyport, Melrose, Manchester, Topsfield, and Lynn, participated in the training.
Firefighters participated in several scenario-based fire incidents such as basement and below grade access to fires, kitchen fires, bedroom fires and rollover fires. Departments worked together following FEMA Incident Command System guidelines.
The training was designed to instruct firefighters from every experience level and provided members with hands-on experience to practice and hone their firefighting and life safety skills.
“I would like to thank the MFA and the instructors from the Academy for working with us throughout this training,” said Chief Valentine. “It was a great weekend of training for everyone from probationary firefighters to Chief Officers, and this was a great shared experience for all. Everyone gained valuable knowledge from this training, and I am proud of our members for their commitment to the fire service.”
