Chief Robert Valentine and Groveland Firefighters Association President Dave Evans are pleased to announce the association’s annual turkey raffle will return this year after being interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

WHEN:

Friday, Nov. 19, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

WHERE:

Groveland Fire Department, 181 Main St., Groveland, MA

WHAT:

The Groveland Firefighters Association traditionally holds Turkey Night the week before Thanksgiving, raffling off dozens of frozen turkeys to help provide funding for fire department needs, such as a new washing machine for turnout gear that was purchased several years ago, and for a scholarship that is awarded annually to a senior from a local high school.

COVID-19 forced the cancellation of last year’s raffle, though Groveland firefighters still delivered 40 donated turkeys to residents on an individual basis.

This year Turkey Night is back, and will include raffles of 40 turkeys that were generously donated by Fadi Issa, the owner of Groveland Auto Repair and Sales.

The raffle will be held at the Groveland Fire Department. Tickets for the frozen turkey raffle will be $1 each. There will also be a cash raffle, with $10 tickets buying a chance at a $500 first prize, a $300 second prize, or a $200 third prize.

Tickets can be purchased from any Groveland firefighter.

“Turkey Night is an annual tradition that provides invaluable support to the Groveland Fire Department while also helping to warm the holiday season for residents, and giving residents and firefighters an opportunity to get to know each other,” said Chief Valentine. “I’m pleased to see this tradition return, and I encourage community members to stop by, take a chance on a turkey, and get to know some of our town’s first responders.”
