A.W. Chesterton Company Donates AED to Groveland Fire Department

GROVELAND –  Chief Robert Lay and Andrew Chesterton, CEO and President of A.W. Chesterton Company, are pleased to announce that Chesterton donated an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to the Groveland Fire Department yesterday.

“We’re extremely grateful for this donation,” Chief Lay said. “It means a lot to the department and the community. We have a great relationship with Chesterton, the town’s largest employer, and appreciate their continued support.”

Chesterton donated the AED to the Groveland Fire Department at 2 p.m. on Sept. 13 at their facility, 860 Salem St.

The Zoll AED is worth approximately $2,000. Last year, one of Groveland’s AEDs was lost in the field and the fire department has been operating without a replacement.

With Chesterton’s donation, Groveland Fire now has four AEDs — one on each of their two engines and one for each of their two rescue vehicles.

“We understand how significant having an AED readily available during an incident can be and it is our pleasure to be able to present this much needed unit to the Groveland Fire Department,” Chesterton said. “We are thankful for all that the Groveland Fire Department does and we’re pleased to be able to support their efforts in a meaningful way.”

Chesterton has also been pro-active in emergency medical response. The building is equipped with multiple AEDs and 30 employees are trained on how to use the devices.
