GROVELAND — Groveland Fire Chief Robert Valentine and Police Chief Jeffrey T. Gillen report that the Groveland Police and Fire Departments responded to a serious crash involving an electric bike on Sunday evening.
Groveland rescuers were dispatched to a location on Main Street shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, police officers and firefighters found a 25-year-old woman suffering from serious traumatic injuries. Passers by found the victim shortly after the crash and called 911 for assistance.
Pridestar Trinity EMS also responded to the scene with an advanced life support ambulance. Due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, a critical care medical helicopter was requested from Boston MedFlight. The woman was taken by ambulance to the Pines Recreation Area nearby on Main Street where a landing zone was established and staffed by additional Groveland firefighters and police officers. The victim was flown to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
A preliminary investigation at the scene indicates that the victim was cycling when she struck a parked motor vehicle. No one was inside the vehicle at the time, and no one else was injured.
