Who We Are
Groveland Fire Rescue is an all paid on-call Fire Department. By definition, we have no regular staffing and no one on duty at the station. Our firefighters respond only when there’s a need for assistance and are paid for that response. The only paid position is a part time Fire Chief.
Over the last four years we have made significant progress in several key areas. We have reduced our 10 year capital requests by $900,000 which is consistent with our “smaller and faster” approach while maintaining a fleet of apparatus that is right sized for the town. We have made significant progress in our EMS program and are working closely with the Holy Family Hospital and Trinity EMS to provide improved patient care. We have introduced new training standards and a new training program with a goal of creating a training culture.
Improving Our Insurance Service Organization Class Rating
Our goal is to maintain or improve its Insurance Service Organization (ISO) Class 4 rating. In doing so, we can achieve improved and efficient training, required water supply, infrastructure, rapid response, public education, adequate equipment and necessary staffing to meet national standards and guidelines. Through these efforts the department can minimize injury, loss of life, and reduce property damage thereby assisting in maintaining the community’s tax base.
