GROVELAND — Chief Robert Valentine reports that the Groveland Fire Department extinguished a garage fire late last night.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, Groveland Fire responded to an alarm for a fire at 10 Clark Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-car garage on the property showing heavy fire throughout the structure and through the roof.

The fire was quickly knocked down and placed under control within 30 minutes. The first attack line deployed was focused on protecting the main house, which was saved.

Groveland Police was first on scene and made sure all occupants were out of the home upon firefighters’ arrival.

The heat of the fire caused damage to the house on the property, as well as the house next door at 12 Clark Road. This damage was caused by radiant heat from the fire.

A camper and multiple motor vehicles on the property were also extensively damaged as a result of the fire and are believed to be totaled, including an older model Porsche that the homeowner’s grandson was refurbishing inside the garage.

Estimated loss of property and vehicles as a result of the fire is $300,000.

Fire Departments from Georgetown, West Newbury and Haverhill assisted on scene with extinguishment, and Trinity Ambulance was on scene providing rehab and stood by in case a medical issue arose. Boxford and Newburyport Fire Departments provided station coverage.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

The fire remains under investigation by the Groveland Police and Fire Departments and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

“This was an incredible team effort, and I would like to thank Groveland firefighters as well as each of the other departments who provided mutual aid,” Chief Valentine said. “Because of their quick and effective response, the main house on the property was saved and no one was injured.”
