The Town of Groveland was notified by MEMA early this morning that a nationwide outage affecting CenturyLink, an Internet communications company, was impacting wireless 911 call capability in various parts of the country.

This outage impacted wireless/cellular 911 calls only, not landline calls. The alert came into the police department at 7 a.m., and by 7:30, the issue was reported to be resolved. The Police Department is actively monitoring the situation, however.

Massachusetts was impacted by the CenturyLink outage, and in the event that something like this ever reoccurs, residents are advised that they can always call Groveland Public Safety Communications directly at 978-521-1212.
