This past Tuesday night, the Groveland Fire Department assisted with Hose Testing of apparatus hand lines and supply lines. All hose carried on apparatus and spare hose must be tested annually under NFPA guidelines. Hose Testing ensures the Hoses can withstand the stresses they encounter during structure fires and other emergencies. The Groveland Fire Department was able to save a substantial amount of budget money this year as testing was done in house, instead of through a contracted service. GFD has two firefighters who used to work as technicians for a Hose Testing company. They were able to put their skills to use and ensure the safety of their fellow firefighters. Much of the Hose testing was completed Tuesday night, with the rest being accomplished within the next two days. A special thank you goes out to the Essex County Fire Chief’s Association for allowing the use of the Hose testing trailer.
